Providing Integrated Psychiatric Treatment
Odyssey Integrative Psychiatry
Dr. Lloyd's approach to addressing mental health is rooted in his background as a Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatrist. His training encouraged taking an integrative approach in considering the brain-body connection. His primary focus is on treating mood, anxiety, traumatic, and cognitive disorders and has expertise in addressing mental health in the setting of physical illness. He supports a collaborative, multi-modal approach to functional improvement and recovery (physical-mental-cognitive).
Dr. Lloyd is in solo practice and treats adults. He works closely with other physicians, therapists, and clinicians to develop a comprehensive treatment plan addressing functional recovery and personal growth.
Education/ Background
2000 - 2008
MD/ PhD
University of Cincinnati
I completed a dual degree at the University of Cincinnati. The focus of my PhD was on developmental biology with an understanding of how the central nervous system develops. Here I first became interested in the brain-body connection.
2008 - 2012
Psychiatry - Residency
Emory University
My residency training was in Atlanta and I served as the chief resident at the VA clinical site. During training, I was a member of the PTSD clinic treating veterans involved in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts (OEF/ OIF). In my fourth year, I worked in a clinic addressing women's mental health with a focus on treatment of psychiatric conditions in the peripartum period.
2012 - 2013
Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry - Fellowship
Northwestern University/ Medicine
My fellowship training focused on "CL" Psychiatry - educating psychiatrists to treat illness at the medical-psychiatry interface. Here I gained expertise in transplant evaluations, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, chronic pain, and developed skills in the setting of rehabilitation.
2013 - 2022
Associate Professor
Northwestern University/ Medicine
I continued work at Northwestern in CL Psychiatry as faculty after training as a consulting physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, assisting patients admitted on medical and surgical wards. I worked in the gender clinic affiliated with the Gender Pathway Program, assisting patients with gender-affirming treatments. I was also involved in medical student and residency education and served as the Program director of the residency training program. I remain affiliated with Northwestern and am involved with resident and fellow development and didactics.
2015 - 2022

My role was assessing and treating mental illness and adjustment for patients admitted with a wide range of conditions (cardiac rehabilitation, medically complex, spinal cord injury, brain injury, cancer, burn injuries, amputations, functional disorders).
