Initial Consultation

We will review what brings you to treatment, associated symptoms, and current level of functioning. The appointment includes a review of prior psychiatric diagnoses and treatment, medical conditions, substance use, and medications. It includes understanding more about your social background, educational development, and relationships. We will discuss initial diagnostic impression and potential treatment options. This session may include review or prior treatment and discussing care with other clinicians.

Medication Management

For some conditions, medications will may be indicated and we will be monitoring the progress of treatment over sessions. Prescribing medications is always in the context of a treatment relationship and Dr. Lloyd will utilize psychotherapy techniques even in these sessions as needed for psychological support. I may be working closely with your therapist as indicated.

Psychotherapy

While many patients have their own therapist, Dr. Lloyd will provide psychotherapy to select patients. This generally requires weekly appointments to address a specific area or condition and relies on a variety of psychotherapy skills. If medications are indicated, then this may also be a part of treatment.

Secondary Consultation

Some patients may need a second opinion on their current treatment plan or have a primary care provider managing their treatment and are looking for treatment options if things are not progressing. Dr. Lloyd is able to provide a comprehensive assessment and work with your provider as needed.
